7th Pay Commission: Employees to get higher allowances with retrospective effect: Finmin

A finance ministry official, speaking on condition of anonymity, today said that the Central government employees will get the higher allowances under the 7th pay commission recommendations with retrospective effect from January 1, 2016.

Responding to our reporter, the finance ministry official said the central government has to accept to implement the ‘Committee on Allowances’ recommendations without any hartals by the employees’ unions.

Employee representatives and members of the 7th pay commission allowance committee will hold a crucial round of talks today, a top union official told NDTV.

The Committee on Allowances has already submitted its report to the Finance Ministry in which it has reviewed the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission on allowances.

With the second part of the Budget session in Parliament starting on Thursday, all eyes are on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley who may just announce a hike in allowances for Central government employees.
