Retirement age in different countries

This article lists the statutory retirement age in different countries.Policy makers usually consider the demography, fiscal cost of ageing, health, life expectancy, nature of profession, supply of labour force etc. while deciding the retirement age.

Many of the countries listed in the table below are in the process of reforming the ages (see the notes in the table for details). The ages given in the table reflect the age at which one retires if they retire/have retired in the year given in the table; the trend in some countries is that in the future the age will increase gradually.
